What’s New with Gale Databases

New features have been added to the Gale products, including popular databases  Academic Onefile, Business and Company Resource Center, RDS Business Reference Suite and General Reference File. For  a complete list of the library’s Gale databases and descriptions see the Gale Databases page.

The most noticeable change is the new look of the  PowerSearch platform, which includes a more personalized workspace and a full menu of Web 2.0 features.

Other cool new features of this interface include:

  • Personalized  home page. Create an account and add subject specific search updates to tabs on your home page (via RSS Feeds). Your home page will be the same across Gale databases (on the PowerSearch platform) once you log in. To view  a screen shot, click the picture below.

  • The results page includes a side menu of video, podcast, and image results.
  • Readspeak technology allows users to listen to articles by downloading into MP3 format.
  • Article translation for 8 languages including Arabic and Chinese.
  • NPR Broadcasts have  been added

Business & Company Resource Center has a new collection of Investment Reports from Reuters Research on Demand: a three year rolling file of investment reports from investment banks, brokers, independent research providers and from Reuters itself. Most reports are available in PDF.

RDS Business Reference Suite, the platform that cross searches business databases, Business & Industry and TableBase, was given a much needed update with a cleaner look.  Click here to take a tour of the new enhancements.
