Coal Mines / Wilma Mankiller (1945-2010)

In the News: At least 25 people were killed in an explosion at the Upper Big Branch coal mine in Raleigh County, West Virginia. Massey Energy owns the mine and, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, had been cited over 400 times for safety violations in 2009.
