In the News: At least 25 people were killed in an explosion at the Upper Big Branch coal mine in Raleigh County, West Virginia. Massey Energy owns the mine and, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, had been cited over 400 times for safety violations in 2009.

In the News: Prosecutors in Massachusetts, as well as the high school classmates of Phoebe Prince, believe that the bullying actions of nine South Hadley students brought on the suicide of the fifteen-year-old Prince this past January. The nine students were charged last week.

Also In the News: Nine members of the Hutaree militia group were indicted on charges of seditious conspiracy and weapons possession. Authorities say the group was plotting to kill an unnamed law enforcement officer, then later attack that officer’s funeral procession with Improvised Explosive Devises as a way of inciting violence against the U.S. government.
