New Database – SourceOECD

Access and search international economic statistics, books, and journals published by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

SourceOECD inludes:

  •  20 thematic full-text book collections
  •  24 full-text periodicals
  • Source OECD Statistics  with access to 24 interactive databases. This feature now includes an updated Index of Statistical Variables that links to Excel tables, and links to tables of data found in the OECD Factbook, OECD in Figures, OECD Economic Outlook and other publications.
  • Access to OECD’s Working Paper series, over 800 papers, beginning with issue one.

Oxford Art Online – November Database of the Month

Oxford Art Online is the new home of Grove Art Online and also provides access to three other well-respected resources for art reference; The Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms, and The Oxford Companion to Western Art.

Oxford Art Online is an extensive, authoritative and easily searchable online art resource.  The resources can be searched as a group or the user can select one or more individual titles to search.  Included are  more than 23,000 subject entries, 21,000 biographies, 500,000 bibliographic citations, 40,000 image links and 5,000 images.  Precise search and browse capabilities allow users to refine their results by source and subject categories.  Print and Email functions are available, as well as a  “How to Cite” feature for both articles and images.  Citations can be exported to citation management software such as RefWorks and Endnote.

Video Clips Now in Newsbank

Newsbank has added video news content to their online resources. In addition to the 600 US and 500 international full-text newspapers already in  Access World News, search results now include video from The Associated Press, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, local affiliates of ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox, as well as coverage from Canadian Broadcasting, Agence France-Presse, and more.

  • Play news videos within the NewsBank interface, in the same space used to display text articles
  • Select specific videos from a comprehensive results lists that also includes NewsBank articles, or restrict their search to “video only”
  • Access recent and archived news videos at your institution or remotely

Mergent Online delivers a comprehensive suite of authoritative financial information with the accuracy, timeliness and transparency required in today’s marketplace.  Mergent Online includes current financial information for public U.S. and international companies in addition to providing annual reports.   Mergent Online offers a wealth of detail on items including business description, history, property, subsidiaries, officers and directors, long-term debt and capital stock.  Financial statements are presented in “as-reported” form and in native currencies, maintaining the full integrity of this critical information. Twentieth Century Advice Literature: September Database of the Month

Twentieth Century Advice Literature: North American Guides on Race, Gender, Sex, and the Family is a new electronic resource that allows students and researchers to immerse themselves in the values and behaviors of Americans of the past. The collection provides a window into American social history by bringing together the instructional, prescriptive, behavioral, and etiquette literature that defined standards of personal conduct for millions of Americans and reflected the prevailing social mores across the twentieth century. The collection currently contains 19,367 pages of fully searchable handbooks, manuals, textbooks, etiquette guides, self-help books, instructional pamphlets, and how-to books that illustrate both how Americans actually behaved and how they felt they ought to behave.
