The enhanced features of the new EBSCOhost viewer bring a real browsing experience to the online journal. I was impressed by the clean navigation — seamlessly jumping from one issue to the next, and skimming a hyperlinked table of contents while the selected article remains in view. FAU’s subscription EBSCO databases include CINAHL, Academic Search Premier, and Business Source Premier (see EBSCOhost for a complete list of databases). View a short demonstration here.
EBSCO’s description of new features:
EBSCOhost features a special viewer designed to streamline the browsing of an entire issue, or all available volumes and issues, from one screen. There are also several helpful features to enable users to easily navigate and manage open PDFs, including:
- TOC column with instant access to citations with title, author and subject detail
- Hyperlinked access to full text issue contents, by article or chapter titles
- A convenient list of hyperlinked thumbnails to illustrations
- Expand/collapse arrow to control open PDF view
Other additions include subject heading displays on individual records and the addition of Dutch, Romanian and Slovenian to the existing list of languages.
