The L.A. Riots <\/strong><\/p>\n

In the News<\/em>: On April 29, 1992, the South Central L.A. area erupted in civil unrest immediately following the acquittal of four L.A.P.D. officers who had been accused of beating a black man, Rodney King. The National Guard was deployed to the area to enforce curfews and suppress the disorder. Many Korean-owned shops in Koreatown were looted which prompted the community to come together and defend their businesses from rioters.<\/p>\n
