The FAU Libraries are offering four training sessions by a professional RefWorks trainer:
\nNovember 1st and November 2nd.<\/strong><\/p>\n

RefWorks<\/strong><\/a> allows you to create a personal database that can be used to manage, store, and share your research. Learn how to quickly and easily import references from online databases, automatically insert references into papers and generate formatted bibliographies and manuscripts in seconds. RefMobile and the in-text citation tool Write-N-Cite will also be covered.<\/p>\n

Session Descriptions<\/strong><\/span>
\nRefWorks Best Practices <\/strong> (75 minutes) – Two sessions on Boca Campus, Wimberly Library,\u00a0 November 1st at\u00a0 9:00 and 11:00
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cRefWorks Best Practices\u201d will teach you how to build a personal database and create papers with bibliographies and in-text citations, and share folders or an entire database with collaborators. The topics covered include:<\/p>\n

A)\u00a0 Quickly Learning RefWorks\u2019 Basic Functions<\/em>: An account will be created, citations imported, and a bibliography generated.<\/p>\n

B)\u00a0\u00a0 Creating a bibliography with in-text citations using Write-N-Cite III.<\/em> Write-N-Cite III provides more advanced functionality than the One Line\/Cite View method; however, learning to use it takes a little more time<\/p>\n

C)\u00a0\u00a0 RefShare<\/em>: We\u2019ll show how the collaborative tool within RefWorks can be used as a reading list. The commentary function will also be shown.<\/p>\n

D) <\/em>RefMobile<\/em><\/p>\n

A)\u00a0 Create an account<\/p>\n

B)\u00a0\u00a0 Directly import citations from two online databases<\/p>\n

C)\u00a0\u00a0 Organize citations; check them for accuracy<\/p>\n

D)\u00a0 Quickly create a bibliography for two ways:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. From a list or folder of citations in your RW account<\/li>\n
  2. With in-text citations via the One line\/Cite View method<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Beyond Direct Export (45 minutes)<\/strong> – TCC, November 2nd at 11:00<\/p>\n

    (Note: This session is generally conducted later in the day, after attendees have attended either \u201cRefWorks Best Practices for the Classroom\u201d or \u201cUsing RefWorks to Quickly Import Citations and Write a Paper.\u201d<\/em>)<\/p>\n

    One of the easiest and most commonly used methods of adding references to your RefWorks database is called \u201cdirect export\u201d.\u00a0 Using this method you can quickly save search results from hundreds of online resources such as library catalogs or databases to RefWorks. But it is not the only method for adding references; there are five other methods you can use:<\/p>\n

    A)\u00a0 Importing from a text file<\/p>\n

    B)\u00a0\u00a0 Searching online catalogs or databases from within RefWorks<\/p>\n

    C)\u00a0\u00a0 Using a web browser tool called RefGrab-It to capture references from a web page<\/p>\n

    D)\u00a0 Importing records from RSS feeds<\/p>\n
