PRISM, a collection of pamphlets, from the 19th and 20th centuries, reveals a gamut of burning issues\u00a0reflective of leftist and liberal views\u00a0\u00a0from around the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">These issues are similar to the experiences of today. For example,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairtradefederation.org\/\">fair trade<\/a> is moving at a slow pace. Despite the growing number of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.workersrights.org\/links.asp\">organizations and projects<\/a> addressing labor rights,\u00a0social equality continues to be a rallying cry as was made apparent in parts of the Middle East, Europe, and even in Wisconsin, United States.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In a recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ilo.org\/public\/english\/bureau\/dgo\/speeches\/somavia\/2011\/wdsj.pdf\">statement<\/a> to observe <a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/esa\/socdev\/social\/intldays\/IntlJustice\/2011\/index.html\">World Day of Social Justice<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ilo.org\/global\/lang--en\/index.htm\">International Labour Organization<\/a> Director-General Juan Somavia declared:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Women and men without jobs or livelihoods really don\u2019t care if their economies grow at 3, 5 or 10 per cent per year, if such growth leaves them behind and without protection.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">International Workers\u2019 Day, also referred to as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maydayusa.org\/\">May Day<\/a>, had its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iww.org\/en\/projects\/mayday\/origins.shtml\">origins<\/a> in the United States with the 1886 founding of the American Federation of Labor (AFL).
