In the News:<\/strong> <\/em>Arizona has passed a controversial immigration law that gives police the power to stop individuals they suspect* of being in the U.S. illegally and demand that they provide legal documentation. Opponents of the measure argue that this will result in the racial profiling<\/a> of all Chicanos, Latinos, Hispanics, and other people of color regardless of citizenship. Supporters believe state lawmakers needed to act on their own because the federal government had been slow in its response to immigration reform<\/a>.<\/p>\n
