Salinger &#038; Howard Zinn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Week of February 1, 2010<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>News Item:<\/strong> American author <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/libweb.fau.edu\/blog\/?p=2342#1\">Jerome David Salinger<\/a> (1919-2010)<\/strong>, best known for the classic novel <em>The Catcher in the Rye<\/em> (1951), died of natural causes at his home in Cornish, NH. Historian <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/libweb.fau.edu\/blog\/?p=2342#2\">Howard Zinn<\/a> (1922-2010)<\/strong>, author of the best-selling book <em>A People&#8217;s History of the United States<\/em> (originally published in 1980) and former professor at Boston University and Spelman College, also died this past week of a heart attack.
