Electronic Databases

ABI/INFORM Complete

Provides access to magazine and journal articles on marketing topics, private and public companies, industries and other business topics. Multiple ABI/INFORM databases can be searched simultaneously including Dateline, Global, Archive, Trade & Industry and others. It contains some full text articles. Database can be searched by company name in the "Advanced" search or by keywords.


Business and Company Resource Center

This is an excellent starting point for basic information about a company, including the history, financial information, strategic planning, products and marketing, and other information for a S.W.O.T. analysis. This database can also be used to find industry information, such as rankings and trends. SIC and NAICS numbers are included in the company profile. Additionally, a link to a company's WEB page is provided.


Global Market Information Database

This database includes information, including statistics, about countries, companies, markets and consumers, Gives access to articles in magazines and trade publications on information, including statistics, for companies, markets, consumers and is international in its scope. It also gives access to "Major Market Profiles" (MMP), which includes information about market profiles, consumers, and "retailing briefs."


LexisNexis Academic

Provides access to current full text articles about consumer and marketing information, companies and industries. The "Business" section gives specific information on companies, and the "Legal" section contains articles on legal and regulatory issues,and statutory laws and court cases. The "News" section gives access to information from wire services, newspapers and other publications.


SimplyMap

This resource is useful for gathering information to create a marketing plan, including the ranking of locations by county, zip code, and other criteria. Number of businesses by name or industry description (including NAICS code) can be located for a competitive analysis. Users need to create a personal workspace by registering an email address and password for login purposes.
