Checklist for reviewing wikis:

  • use current Style Template and Style Guide when checking wikis.
  • spelling (check in Firefox/Mozilla. Internet Explorer will NOT perform a spell check).
  • spacing (one space between all items, except date ranges, which have no spaces between them)
  • periods (location) (varies between Database, Journals and Other materials in Boca, Jupiter & Treasure Coast)
  • Check map URLs (varies throughout wiki)

Databases

  • Capitalization (All words except "stop words")
  • Spacing
  • Periods (no periods after database name)

Journals

  • Capitalization (All words except "stop words")
  • Spacing
  • Periods (period after database name, outside last bracket "]")
  • Check Electronic Journal dates. Check Print Journal locations and dates, Microfilm and Microform locations and dates. See below for sample format.
  • Link using http://sfx.fcla.edu/fau?sid=sfx:e_collection&issn= plus the ISSN for each journal
  • When listing Electronic Holdings and Print Holdings,Microfilm and Microfiche holdings, use the following format if we have holdings in more than one type of format.
  • When looking at the SFX holdings, be sure to include the dates of holdings for "Full Text for Related Object," as these are the holdings for the same journal which was previously known by another name. Doing this will show the holdings for all titles under which the same journal has been published. List all titles for this publication, and list all dates for which all of these titles are available for each type of format (electronic holdings, print, microfilm, microfiche).

  • More complex holdings require more complex solutions, as below (note that there are print holdings and/or Microfilm holdings at both Boca Raton and Jupiter libraries).

NOTE: When listing the holdings for journals, please make certain you take the holding dates from the SFX list, not from the Electronic Journals list. When listing the dates of holdings, the following verbiage is being employed for different situations:


1914-1 year ago (when there is a one year hold on the library receiving the current issue)

1916-6 months ago (when there is a six month hold on the library receiving the current issue)

1979-Current (note the use of the hyphen, and capitalize “C” in “Current”)


Books

  • Book Locations
  • Call numbers (including spacing, periods, etc.)
  • Capitalization (First word and proper nouns only)
  • Periods (for abbreviations, outside parentheses) (for books, after final ''' coding symbol of three single quotation marks )
  • Authors, Abbreviations and Conventions:
    • Jr. Sr. III (no comma before Jr., Sr., etc.)
    • et al. (no brackets or parentheses, note period)
    • Use "&", not "and"
    • Editors: (ed). or (eds). (note period placement)
    • Do not show compilers or translators
    • Volumes: 17 v.
    • Editions - do not use parentheses. example: 2nd ed.
    • When the publication date of the book and electronic book are different, please use this format.

When the publication dates of electronic and print book are the same, you can just use the one date, as noted below.

Last paragraph

  • If two authors are listed, 1st is current author with their email address. 2nd author has name only, no email address.
  • Check that info re: SSN is included "and the last four digits of your SSN (Social Security Number)".
