Florida Electronic Library – April Database of the Month

The Florida Electronic Library (FEL) is Florida’s virtual library, providing access to research resources to all Florida citizens. FEL offers information for all age groups, including homework help for students and resources for teachers. Available resources include magazines, newspapers, almanacs, encyclopedias, and books, providing information on topics such as current events, education, business, technology, and health issues. Public users coming from a Florida location will  automatically be recognized without having to go through a log-in routine. All of the FEL resources are also listed on Libraries’ Indexes and Databases pages.

The Florida Electronic Library Plan is the result of a strategic planning process conducted with a planning team of representatives of Florida libraries and guided by the Florida Library Network Council and the Division of Library and Information Services. This program is funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by Florida Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services.

Qaddafi and Libya / Triangle Factory Fire

In the News: This week we take a look at the North African country of Libya as well as its leader, Colonel Muammar el-Qaddafi, who has been in power since 1969.

Also In the News: March 25th was the 100th anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire that claimed the lives of 146 immigrant workers. According to the ILR School at Cornell University, this incident continues to have great significance because “it highlights the inhumane working conditions to which industrial workers can be subjected. To many, its horrors epitomize the extremes of industrialism.” Visit the ILR School Kheel Center’s site for more resources on the fire.
